Shin Bijutsukai was an influential Japanese art magazine published between 1902 and 1906. Considered one of the most significant publications of the Meiji era, it played a crucial role in the spread and development of decorative arts in Japan. Each issue featured detailed and intricately designed patterns intended for a variety of applications, including textiles, ceramics, lacquerware, and architecture. The designs combined classic Japanese motifs such as cherry blossoms, waves, and cranes with modern, more abstract forms inspired by the Western Art Nouveau movement. The design of Shin Bijutsukai was led by leading artists and designers of the time, including Furuya Kōrin, a prominent painter and designer.
